The King of Texas Hold ‘Em

(Intro)

He’s the King of Texas hold ‘em

He knows how to play the game

 (V1)

A high roller and a gambler

He flashes money and a smile,

If you think you can beat him

You’re living in denial

He knows how to play it cozy

He knows how to play it tough,

He knows how to place his bets

He’s the master of the bluff

(V2)

He walks with a swagger,

Wears a big gold diamond ring,

He’s good to everyone he meets

That’s why they call him King

He doesn’t wear sun glasses

He don’t pull his hat down low,

He’ll look you in the eye

So you that you will know....

(Chorus)

He’s the King of Texas hold ‘em

Knows how to play the game,

He has his woman beside him

Lady Luck is her name

 (Instrumental Bridge / Midd;e Eight)

(V3)

Men call him a no good bandit

When he’s raking in the dough,

Women call him another name

They smile and call him Romeo

At night when the game is over

He’ll have a woman on each arm,

He’s a rambling man and a natural

A lady killer with serious charm

(V4)

He’s a rascal and he knows it

But it doesn’t slow him down,

Wherever the King travels

Women follow him around

If you wonder how he does it

When push comes to shove,

He plays the game of poker,

Like he plays the game of love

(Chorus)

He’s the King of Texas hold ‘em

Knows how to play the game,

He has his woman beside him

Lady Luck is her name

This is a great write! But, what do you think about adding a bridge to the song that shows his fear and give a little bit of insight to the poker player.

How long will he keep rolling

A question that's always on his mind

That sometimes even keeps him up at night

His inner fear of crashing

always lies within

Once you reach the top

air gets very thin...

Something like that. You paint the picture of this super confident guy and it seems like nothing and nobody can beat him, but behind all that there is just a normal guy who has fears like everyone else.

Hey Christian, thanks for your comments.  I am telling a story of man, a manufactured myth if you will. These kind of guys may have a tragic flaw but you're never going to see it.  What you are talking about is a whole other song.  I might consider it..

Better yet, I encourage you to do it.  Write your own gambling song about the kind of a guy you envision. The guy that fears his demise. It's a good topic and good luck.

Awesome lyric Gary. Hopefully you can put this to music like your "Santa" one now up in open mic.

Would love to hear it when it's done.
