Thread: MAB Q&A
OD OldDog

KevMo Ol Buddy,

The MAB can answer this better than me; but I'll give you my take on the subject.

Before I signed up with a Pro (that I didn't need to do),  an artist/songwriter friend of mine from Nashville gave her opinion to me. She was with ASCAP and once had a publishers songwriting deal (that publisher is no longer in business);  but she had heard BMI tried a little harder and paid more of a return to the songwriter.  Now realize, she was well known around town; but not a major artist that would sell a lot of CD's or have any songs played on radio, movies, or on the juke box in bars or restaraunts.  However, she was way ahead of you and me in the music business.

So with her sharing her opinion, I signed up with BMI.  A few months later during a group tour with the MAB in 09,  the MAB took us to ASCAP to meet with their vice-president Ralph Murphy.  After listening to Ralph and liking him a lot, I had wished I had signed up with ASCAP.

To be honest, at our level of songwriting I don't think it makes any difference at all.  Kind of like a toss of a coin.

Don't listen to me though, I'm sure the MAB will have a much better thought to share.

PS........ KevMo Ol Buddy.   I haven't given up on renting a Condo for the FB festival yet.  Would you be interested in visiting for a few days???   I hear the Philboy will be willing to buy our drinks and meals if we hang out with him for awhile.
I also hear The MAB is going to have some lovely ladies join him; but they may not be buying drinks and meals; only performing good songs at the shows.

Anyway, the Old Dog is pretty close to committing to the FB experience.   What say you???
