ROCKY ROAD
I GUESS I FOUND MY ROAD A ROCKY ONE
IT`S NOT,I THINK,BECAUSE OF THINGS I`VE DONE,
IT`S BECAUSE I SEE NO LIGHT,
IN A LIFE I HAVE TO FIGHT
I`VE DONE IT ON MY OWN,
AS MY LOVE FOR YOU HAS GROWN.
I`TS BEEN A LONG OLD JOURNEY,
BUT MY EYES BEGIN TO SEE
THAT I WAS`NT ON MY OWN
YES,YOU WERE THERE FOR ME
THAT ROCKY ROAD I KNEW HAS MOVED AWAY
IT`S GONE TO HELL,AND THERE IT`S GONNA STAY
I`M CAREFUL I DONT FALL
I`M WEARY OF IT ALL
NOW MY LOVE IS STRONG
`CAUSE I`VE DONE NOTHING WRONG
YOU`VE MADE MY LIFE MUCH BRIGHTER,
CAUSE I CAN SMILE AGAIN
IT`S YOUR HEART THATS GIVEN ALL ITS LOVE
TO TAKE AWAY THE PAIN
IT`S BEEN A LONG OLD JOURNEY
BUT MY EYES BEGIN TO SEE,
THAT I WAS`NT ON MY OWN
YES`YOU WERE THERE FOR ME
OH,YOU WERE THERE FOR ME

Very nice writing David, filled with many emotions! Another option for title could be: "Long Old Journey" or "You were there for me" ...or simply "There for me" since it is memorable and repeated in your chorus. However, it is your lyric, your title and of course your choice. Im very impressed with what you've written sir! Thanks for sharing and good luck with all your writings!
Please know, just my immediate thoughts, and in no way an expression of dislike or negativity. I think its awesome! Just my attempt to add some help if desired. Respectfully; -Ron

Thanks so much for your kind comments Ron.It does "The Soul"such good to know that somebody out there actually likes what I do! Constructive comments are great,Ron.I`m happy to accept anything that will help me.I`ve only been writing for about 6 months! So,I `ve a lot to learn! I`ve done a couple of gigs at a local theatre (Where I did 8yrs acting)But I`m 71yrs old now! It`s all come too late! I only learnt guitar about 10yrs ago. You "Kick yourself" saying"Why did`nt I do this when I was 20yrs old.I`d have had a lifetime of Music ahead of me.I`ve got a lot to cram in now. Before I reach 80 yrs old!!
Thanks again Ron
( If your interested in collaboration, let me know.I would be.) I`ve don 3 or 4 live studio recordings.I use Band in the Box.But I need a lot more practise!

My pleasure David! We learn more from constructive criticism, at least I do, however, positive reviews warm the soul. I am 57 years old and have been a pianist all my life and started playing guitar at 7 yrs old, I thank my stepfather for having found his guitar laying in the attic storage of our home at the time. I am self taught with the exception of music theory I voluntarily signed up for when I was 17 with a private instructor. She felt after 1 week that I go directly into performing. I had the playing piano part down pretty good on my own....but I wanted to know why a flat is a flat and a sharp is a sharp etc etc.... Such a nice lady who believed in me more than I did...:) I'm glad she did.
Age is only a number my new friend, and thus music is as well... what we as writers and musicians share what comes from our inner souls can live on forever. Via the internet, it an endless road of opportunity. For all to hear or see your work. How amazing is that right? At least you are are alive and capable to continue to pursue a dream or two, or more! So do what you want to do, as much as you want to do. Practice....you have a lot of time my friend! Theres no better time than today!
As for collaboration, I am open to collaborating with anyone, including you young man.

Thanks for your comments Ron.Means a lot when even a "stranger" says that! Anyway, theres more where that came from.Appreciate any help you can give me Ron.Trouble is I cant give you much in return.I`m just an "Old fashioned "guy that loves old Country! Your more Versatile than I am.I`m good with words.Maybe I can help you there!!? I`m not an upbeat kinda rock/country kinda guy! But i can try! I have`nt really explored my vocals enough! Maybe I should try? I am a Baritone.I spent 10years in a male voice choir here in the uk.
My great loves are sadly no longer with us.Don Williams,Merle haggard,Glen Cambell, Jim Reeves! If i dont hurry up I`ll be following `em!Keep in touch my friend.Speak to you soon!David
