Marv Jonesi, a professional guitarist/singer, records his own tunes in his 32-track home studio, CD's of which he plans on inserting into the nose cone of a rocket and shooting into orbit around Uranus. ABOUT: Moved out to Sun Valley, Idaho, from Chicago in 1996, then moved to Boise in 2000. Been a professional musician since the age of sixteen, and in Chicago was a staff producer/writer/singer/guitarist for a national jingle company for fourteen years, performing on over 2,000 sessions and creating commercials for United Airlines, McDonald's, Sears, Kellogg's Corn Flakes, Wheaties, Miller Light, Michelob, the original Glade Plug-In spot ("Plug it in, plug it in..."), etc., etc. Played in a zillion rock bands in the Midwest, California, and in Idaho. Early on I played with Jay & the Americans, Sam the Sham, Major Lance, Tony Orlando & Dawn, and the Mauds; in the 70's my own band opened concerts for Sly & the Family Stone, Bob Seger, Steppenwolf, REO Speedwagon, Mike Nesmith (the Monkee), and assorted others. In the 80's & 90's I worked in the studio with Delbert McClinton, Jennifer Warnes, Patti Austin, Tom Paxton, John Sebastian, Rosemary Butler (backup singer for James Taylor, Jackson Browne, etc.), Janie Fricke, Lynn Anderson, Dr. John, Matthew Wilder, Eugene Record (of the Chi-Lites), and Joe Williams (the late, great singer from the Count Basie Band). Currently I fight off musical boredom by occasionally playing da blues in local clubs, recording my little tunes in my home studio, and contemplating the music floating in and out of my navel.  Especially out.

I took piano lessons when I was a kid for several years - it mostly did not take but I did learn to read music.  That was reinforced by 9 years of band, 5th grade - first year of college.  I was a decent but not talented baritone horn player and I sang in an all campus choir a couple of years in college (on really challenging parts, our choir director had some of us lip-synch - I was one of those).  So, while I don't perform, I do write songs. All my life I always heard melodies in my head and figured everyone heard such things but I discounted them since I am not a performer.  I have also written poetry since my college days.  In recent years I discovered I can write songs and have been blessed to find an incredible group of talented indviduals to collaborate with. Please take time to check out the music of these other incredibly talented writers, vocalists and musicians that I have had not only the privilege but the fun of working with:  Brad Miller "Showdog-Studios", Mike Cunningham "texpiano", Michelle Epperson "esssence" (that is with 3 "s"), Shelly Green "Greensong", Cyndie Mace "Cyndie" and her husband, Larry and most recently Jeff Southerland "iisee" and Derek Southerland.  Thanks for stopping by and taking time to read my bio and to listen to my/our songs!
