I saw a TV special this morning about Rolling Dog Farm that is a special place for disabled and abused dogs. This is a female version of a song I did some time ago at Dales. It brought to mind the hook I wrote for this song: "God may save humans, but it takes a human to save a dog." http://www.rollingdogfarm.org/
TO SAVE A DOG
© 2010 Jon Hanson ?? Heather Cowles Vocal
I lived life tied up and beaten
And there were days I hadn’t eaten
I drank from puddles in the rain
The preacher at the church next door
Said love is something we shouldn’t ignore
It’s hard to know love when all you’ve known is pain
Back then I thought that maybe dogs weren’t part of God’s plan
I need something to restore my faith in man
I ALWAYS WONDERED IF GOD HEARS DOGGY PRAYERS
SOME DAYS I FELT IT MIGHT BE MORE THAN I COULD BEAR
BEFORE I WAS RESCUED LIFE WAS PRETTY RAW
GOD MAY SAVE HUMANS BUT IT TAKES A HUMAN TO SAVE A DOG
Now I have a new home and a new name
Since the people from the shelter came
I’m safe, fed, and warm in my new place
My new family shows me real love
Now life’s just one long belly rub
I don't know about God, I just know man’s grace
People like to say that a Dog is man’s best friend
I’m glad got a chance at love again
Chorus repeat:

Link below for the version I posted earlier Dale sings. Heather's version here was evidently before final tweaks on lyrics. She is in Veternarian School presently.
