Agust Gudmundsson songs
If you looked at the post for Middle Class Man you may be relieved to see this post about someone who won’t give up on their dreams. BJ and I wrote a musical, Welcome Home, and this was one of the songs from that.
This was recorded at the "Home Grown - green bean" farm. Scotty plays mandolin and sings harmony. I did this on the old Revox and BJ sings this. At the very end she does this out of phase thing in her double track that makes the track sound like some Doctor Hook thing. I kept it because I thought: Hey, cool.
Words and Music: BJ and Agust Gudmundsson
Dear Mom
I walked out this morning
And looked in the mailbox
Hoping to find a letter from home
But all that I found
I should have expected
The last due notice
For the rent and the phone
We sipped on our coffee
And frowned at the paper
Jobs are scarce and prices are high
The club called to tell us
Our contract has ended
The party is over
Tonight is good-bye
Dear Mom
You know it ain’t easy
But we said that we’d never stop
And though it is tiring
We still keep trying
To follow our dreams
To the top
The very last call
That came through this evening
Before they cut off the phone
Was not much different
Than a dear jane letter
The lovin’ is over
Stay happy alone
So tomorrow we’ll pack up
And move to the next club
And hope this won’t happen again
It’s got to get better
We said that the last time
And here we are
Dreaming again
Dear Mom ..
