WOW, it's been awhile since I've posted something, been busy busy busy...this is a song I wrote for the most part about a year ago, touched it up some recently, I wrote if for a local songwriters in the round, the month before they picke da topic and we had a couple weeks to write a song on that topic...the topic was Stone Age...here's where I went with the topic...
Stone Age
Words/Music Ray Fontenault
When I was 10 Grandpa took me by the hand
Down to see Carter's Quarry Rock & Sand
His hands were strong and hardened
From mining stone in this big ole rock garden
I asked Grandpa about his age
Cuz of the wrinkles upon his storied face
He thought for a second, looked me square in the eye
And with a grin...replied...
I'm Stone Age
Rock solid in my convictions
I work hard for a living
Cuz I'm Stone Age...
I'm firm in my faith
Faithful to family
I fought for my country
For the freedoms we paved
Cuz' I'm Stone Age
Though I’m all grown, Grampa’s message still rings true
Building blocks carved through time and golden rules
His age was more than numbers
A wisdom gained through life’s countless wonders
I’ll work to earn an honest wage
And gonna sing for our Lord the Rock of Ages
I’ll treasure my family, thank the soldiers who served
Cuz I still hear his words…
(To Chorus)
