Angel In An Apron
Ronald Walls, George Carter Jr. and James Cain © 2011
On a hill there stood a school
In Charleston West By God Virginia
Times there were tough life painful and rough
Where You learn to live ..with hurt in ya’
There’s little hope living in poverty
When the world turns its back and looks away
When no one sees you don’t see yourself
Without hope each day is hard to face
Yet even in the darkest of times
A little light can shine
In that school there was an Angel
With an apron full of love
She cooked us food mixed with kindness
And through kindness …..She gave us hope
She gave us hope
An Angel in an apron…… gave us hope
Sometimes all it takes is one smile
To brighten a small child’s day
A tender word of encouragement
Helps the poor in spirit find his way
In that school there was an Angel
With an apron full of love
She cooked us food mixed with kindness
And through kindness She gave us hope
Years have come and gone…..like leaves from a tree
One memory I know I’ll always keep
Peanut Butter cookies and kindness
That an angel in an apron gave to me
POST NOTE:
In Mount Ovas where I went to grade school the cook always
took time to give us encouragement and an occassional peanut
butter cookie. It seems like she was always there at the right time.
Her name Is Opal and she is PopPopRon's Mother-In-Law
He sure is lucky. She is 88 years old and came
to the Cain family reunion last July and brought her famous
Peanut butter cookies. To us childen who went to Mount Ovas Grade
school she was and is our Angel in an Apron.
I remember she gave me a cookie it seemed like every week.
She told me every time the principal spanked me she gave me a cookie.
Ha! now that explains all the cookies.
