This is a song about a special man that use to take me and my two sisters to church when we were just kids. He was crippled and even had fingers missing on both of his hands. As I remember he only had a thumb and the little finger on his left hand. That didn't keep him from playing the guitar though. He had a hollow stainless steel tube that he stuck his little finger in. He then wrapped it around the neck of the guitar and stuck the other end on his thumb. He would slide the steel tube up and down the strings as he strummed the guitar. Even though his leggs were turned in and he had trouble walking he still drove his old big black car. He would take us out to an old country church and would get the three of us scared kids up there to sing. I still remember him singing that old song Lifes Railway To Heaven and strumming that old guitar. He would be smiling from ear to ear even though he had several teeth missing in the front. To make matters worse his wife was bed ridden and my sister helped take care of her at times. She probably had cancer but you never heard that word back then. I thank God for the example that Mr. Gibbs showed us kids.That you can still praise God even though you weren't dealt a very good when you were born into this old world! Jeff Stevens played guitar on this gospel album and then went to Nashville where he is still a top notch songwriter. One of his biggest songs was Carrying Your Love With Me recorded by George Strait.
