The Man Up In The Tree
One Saturday I was joggin through my neighborhood
I heard the growlin of a chainsaw cuttin through wood
Then up high I saw a man trimmin off some limbs
And I could hear him singin good ole gospel hymns
I watched in amazement as those limbs hit the ground
And in just a little while he started comin down
I asked him why so happy then he smiled big and wide
I’m so happy son because of what I have inside
He took me back in time to nineteen fifty seven
That’s when I started my journey on this road to heaven
In a doctor’s office I asked the Lord my soul to save
Now I’ll tell everyone about him till they lay me in the grave
He’s a walkin testimony of what Jesus Christ can do
What the Lord did in that doctor’s office he can do the same for you
He replaced that old heart of stone with his compassion and love
The Lord gave him a heart transplant sent from God above
It was under that tree when I bowed my head and prayed
I asked the Lord into my heart and right there I got saved
Now we go to church together and he testifies in the pew
He tells how Jesus saved him and he’ll do the same for you
He still loves to sing Amazing Grace and What A Day That Will Be
He tells how he misses family and friends that one day again he’ll see
He says give people while they’re livin the roses they are due
Well brother I wanna say this song is my special rose to you
He’s a walkin testimony of what Jesus Christ can do
What the Lord did in that doctor’s office he can do the same for you
He replaced that old heart of stone with his compassion and love
The Lord gave him a heart transplant sent from God above
He replaced that old heart of stone with his compassion and love
The Lord gave him a heart transplant sent from God above
