Tom Ebelt songs
Just a silly little ditty this time. This is a little commentary about conformity being it's own reward, (Excuse the tongue in cheek, please.)
EVERYBODY SAYS SO
copyright(c)Tom Ebelt
I was born on four September,
But I was young and I don't remember.
Have I gone as far as I can get?
Well I don't know 'cause I ain't done yet.
And parents said "you'll be a man."
"And the world is yours if you think you can."
Said "go to school and study hard."
"You can go to work in the lumber yard."
'Cause everybody says so...
Everybody says so...
Everybody says so.
Things are better than you think they are.
Hey, I'm driving an American car.
Got a wife and settled down.
Bought a house on the edge of town.
Stay in debt, don't be a jerk.
Just pack your lunch and go to work.
And politics don't bother me.
I just drink my beer and watch TV.
'Cause everybody says so...(3 times)
I got some friends, and they all say "son."
"You ain't a man 'less you got a gun."
And way up north to the woods we fly.
And we blow the crap out of what walks by.
And you know I'm doing the best I can.
Growing old in Michigan.
And now I drinkin' in a small-town bar.
With all my friends, how good they are.
And everybody says so...(3 times)
