Many years ago when I worked in London I used to pass one of those grassy London squares on my way home.
The mothers and their children used to stop off there on the way home from school for an hour's playtime.
Sort of got me thinking.
(Genre = Cockney-Jazz Fusion.)
The girl on the roundabout she looks like her mother around the eyes and mouth
The two of them sharing their smiles on this summer afternoon in Kensington Gardens
For a little while.
Mother and daughter at play on this sunny London day with their dog chasing pigeons
And there on the grass as the after-school infants run rings round the roses I see
How happy they must be - how happy they must be at this moment.
London love - London love. London love - a moment in time so sublime as sublime as can be.
And the boy on the rocking horse has a frog in a shoebox it's his pride and joy
He loves his amphibious friend in this sunny London square they rock and they roll
Then he sees in the corner the girl at her roundabout play - she takes his breath away
He can scarcely believe it
She glances his way - pretends not to care but aware that she likes him a lot
He's rooted to the spot - his frog hops off but he doesn't even notice.
London love - London love. London love - a moment in time so sublime as sublime as can be.
I don't know how this story ends - life-long lovers - or just good friends.
But when playtime ends they are holding hands in love's young dream
And shared ice cream.
London love - London love. London love - loving a game two can play
Onthis warm sunny day - it's London Love.
