Lyrics by Diane Rulliere
Melody, music, vocal by Greg Cox
poorandneedy was my hero from the very first time I heard him sing...here on Songramp nearly 3 years ago!
Now, at last I get to hear him sing my words....
Thank you Greg...it was well worth waiting for! :)
Child of the Equinox
Once upon a long gone spring
When I was young and green
I thought that I knew everything
I was just turned seventeen
One day when I was fishing pike
I saw her in the stream
Appearing as a vision - like
She?d stepped out of my dreams
She was a child of the equinox
Eyes like forget-me-nots
Her hair could put the sunlight in the shade
She had April in her smile
And all the grace of something wild
And a loving touch that took my breath away
We spent the summer side by side
And when the harvest came
I asked if she would be my bride
Share my future and my name
Her face turned pale, bereft of joy
Her blue eyes deep with pain
She said my love, my darlng boy
I?ll not see Spring again
She was a child of the equinox
Eyes like forget-me-nots
Her hair could put the sunlight in the shade
She had April in her smile
And all the grace of something wild
And a loving touch that took my breath away
She suffered through the winter days
So cold without the sun
I saw her strength begin to fade
I prayed that she?d hold on
She left me on the first of May
At cherry blossom time
She smiled at me then slipped away
Her hand still clasped in mine
Her beauty was a fragile thing
Too fragile for this world
Whenever winter turns to spring
I miss my April girl?..
She was a child of the equinox
Eyes like forget-me-nots
Her hair could put the sunlight in the shade
She had April in her smile
And all the grace of something wild
And a loving touch that took my breath away
?..And I still see her face every day?..
