song I wrote with fellow friend and former special olympian Dusty Stokes (on vocals). We are working on and finishing up his album this month. This tune was inspired by listening to some jimmy rodgers. I have been dabbling in a lot of different genres lately, still dont consider myself a country writer, but definitely trying to expand my horizons nonetheless ! . Tried to capture the 1920s sound in the recording the best i could...and Dusty at times sounds like jimmy rodgers! Hopefully we will be working with the special olympics once the album is done...wish us luck!
born and raised in abilene
on country road 31
there i learned to cattle on
my granddaddy's farm
many years have passed since those
long summer days
by a 18 I was old enough
to leave my parents home
took a train to
Austin, the central texas heart
where i hope to become a great
country star
I love texas no other place id rather be
I love texas you wont be able to remove me
the hill country is my playground
like a child i wanna play
stay out passed my curfew
i will not sleep for days
play my guitar
and swoon all the ladies
at the country bars
one last song and a record done
im ready to gig this town
spread the love of texas
and watch the sun go down
stars fill the sky
i take stage to sing
my texas lullaby
I love texas no other place id rather be
I love texas you wont be able to remove me
(yea bring it on down)
selling records left and right
i really need the money
grew up poor but now im rich
to support this life and my honeys
i can't turn back now
Texas I'm here to stay
I love texas no other place id rather be (no other place I'd Rather Be)
I love texas you wont be able to remove me
No-I love texas no other place id rather be
I love texas you wont be able to remove me
