She asked me "why are you here?"
It was simple enough, but I just couldn't answer
So I sat there and stared at my drink
And I noticed her look for a ring on my hand...

And I'd say I was daydreaming if it hadn't been night
when a voice from inside said "This doesn't feel right"

So, abruptly I stood and made my way through the chairs
To the door, and fresh air and the comforts they shared
But, she raced just to catch me, smiled and said "listen,
I can tell you're alone, you don't know what you're missing"
There was no way that I misunderstood her
So, I stopped in my tracks, turned around and told her

"You're wrong, cause I do
But it just isn't you
See, my life's where I left it
Half a world away
And it hurts that much more
With each passing day
Cause there's one special lady
Who fills up my dreams
And I know I'm in hers, 
and as little as that seems
That little bit keeps me alive
Knowing I'm hers and knowing she's mine

So, she turned and she left and it lessened the strain
And I noticed the smell from the first drops of rain
And it took me back home, at least for a while
To the places we'd been, your laugh and your smile
And your smile it just warms me inside
Knowing I'm yours and knowing you're mine
