Bill Osofsky songs
I went to an NSAI Songcamp in 2002 where I had the pleasure of meeting Bob Clay (telebob). They had a writing exercize where you told a partner a story about your life and they wrote a lyric from it. This came from the story that my partner told me. I had the great pleasure of having Annie put it to music. I've got Annie's new version uploaded now. Thanks, Annie
THE STRENGTH I GOT FROM YOU
(verse)
A cold, soft rain was falling
The day you sat me down
And told me what was weighing on your heart
I'd seen you growing thinner
Weariness was in your eyes
But a daughter's words just tore my world apart.
(chorus)
Now, every night I wish that you were with me
But your passing taught me things I never knew
You're always on my mind
And the gift you left behind
Will live on in the strength I got from you
(verse)
I got a clear, new vision
Of the path I have to walk
The first step dare not wait another day
I'll paint myself into the picture
Of the way my life could be
And brush aside the doubts that block my way
(chorus)
And every night I wish that you were with me
Your passing taught me things I never knew
You're always on my mind
And the gift you left behind
Will live on in the strength I got from you
