Bill Osofsky songs
I'm not sure what genre this is, a little contemporary country, a little traditional, a little folk. I heard Nancy Pelosi on the Capital steps last year asking "who pays" for the Iraq war.
Who Pays
I saw her on the TV, talkin' 'bout the war
She said the only ones who paid the cost were the foolish and the poor
Said it's easy actin' tough when most don't sacrifice
Well freedom never has come cheap and if you ask who pays the price
Some folks pay with sorrow
Some folks pay with fear
Some pay with their checkbook
And some with blood and tears
Each and every one of us
In a million different ways
That's who pays, that's who pays
Michael Smith enlisted so he could pay for school
Now he's never gonna graduate, to me he's sure no fool
Juan Pedoza's parents crossed the border in the night
And they gave to this country, a son lost in the fight
(repeat chorus)
They may not be my brothers
My sister or my son
But they are all God's children
My heart breaks for every one
(repeat chorus)
