SUPERSTITION ADDICTION

© GARY ORPHEY

(Smokin’ Blues))

(V1)
A BLACK CAT CROSSED MY PATH — A FULL MOON WAS IN THE SKY;

THE NEXT DAY YOU TOLD ME — MORE OF YOUR CRAZY LIES

I HAVE A DANGEROUS ADDICTION — THAT’S GETTING THE BEST OF ME

I HAVE A SUPERSTITION ADDICTION — THAT JUST WON’T LET ME BE

(V2)
IN A DREAM I BROKE A MIRROR — THAT’S THE WAY THE STORY GOES;

TODAY I FOUND YOUR GOODBYE NOTE  — A SINGLE DEAD BLACK ROSE

I DREAMED OF A DARK SKY — FILLED WITH BLACK RAVENS AND CROWS

I HAVE A SUPERSTITION ADDICTION — THAT ONLY GROWS AND GROWS

(Instrumental bridge)

(V3)
MY MOJO BAG AIN’T WORKIN’ —  THE BLACK MAGIC’S GONE

THERE’S VOODOO IN THE AIR — I CAN FEEL IT COMING ON

DON’T TALK ABOUT GOOD LUCK — I CAN’T FIND IT ANYWHERE

I HAVE A SUPERSTITION ADDICTION — THE DEVIL TOOK ME THERE

(V4)

I’M JUST A JUNKYARD DOG — I’VE NEVER BEEN ON A CHAIN

NOTHING THAT CAN STOP ME — BUT THE DEVILS LONG BLACK TRAIN

BORN IN A DARK BACK ALLEY — THERE AIN’T NO COLLAR ON ME

EXCEPT MY SUPERSTITION ADDICTION — THAT’S SLOWLY KILLING ME

I like this kind of lyric write, lots of dark imagery. Have to say, the second I read "there's a bad storm brewing", "there's a bad moon arising" popped into my head. Not sure if that's good or bad. Ott

Hey Ott, thanks a lot. ..It's a dark song for sure. The line in the CCR song is   "I see a bad moon rising"    But maybe I'll change it. Could be it's  close to be comfortable. Thanks for the tip off.

Hey Ott, I took care of it and glad you made me take a second look. I cleaned it up a bit in several places. Once again I posted it before letting it rest for a while and then taking a second look.

I appreciate ya!

Gary, you touched every blues song that's ever been written.  I sang it the first time through.  Funny how songwriters are prone to superstitition.

Hey Jim, you have me smiling on that reply because I have no idea what I'm doing when I'm writing this stuff. LOL

I like the current version even more.  I'd love to hear it set to music and sung. Nicely done! Ott

I like this!  Sang it in my head.  Low and mean up to a hellova scream!  This kind of thing makes me want to sing.  No I didn't rhyme that on purpose, it just came out that way lol

Thanks to all of you. It was a dark write for sure, but I enjoyed it immensely.

I know you and me are country boys, but I could almost hear Black Sabbath grunging this out.
Excellent lyrics Gary.

Thanks Jody, I appreciate the comment.  Black Sabbath would be okay with me. I tried to get the Mormon Tabernacle Choir to do it but it was no go.

You're welcome sir.
Mormon T C, does'nt supprise me too much.  If memory serves me, they mostly stick to what they wright?  Unless you're already in there click. If you can, keep circulating this one.  These lyric are good enough that someone should grab them pretty quick.  I would!  Good luck.
