Hey folks,
Well, I've been rehearsing for about the last 7 hours and my HAND HURTS! So I thought I'd take a break and type. I have my first Three hour show, in some time tomorrow night at 360 Burger and am trying to pull a few things together that I haven't done before. Do a BUNCH of newer songs, songs from my upcoming CD, and try to entertain a crowd.
Tomorrow is a bit of a sticky one for me. The owner of 360, Dan Mayer, is trying to start a "songwriter's showcase" on Saturday's, and that is hard because when you have people that can come see you for free a lot, then a regular resturant that has it's own patrons and food times, it can get difficult to re-route a lot of that traffic through reservations and such. I hope it works out. Hope some people will show up. If they do, I am planning a few new tricks up my sleeve to show them.
I have two people, Jarrod and RiDawn that are going to do a few songs each during the show. We are slowly but surely tightening RiDawn's songs up and this gives us a good chance to get some stage time before the big show on the 5th of Nov. Jarrod, is just now working up in performing, having done a few in Birmingham, and now he has to step up his level in Nashville. Want to play in the big leagues?
I have a new CD I am putting together. I have several new songs that I haven't played, a couple new versions of older songs, and always trying to play new things is a challenge, especially when you don't get a chance to play them very much. Most of the sets I do are the six song feature writer sets. So I have to push myself.
My carpel tunnel in my right hand (my chording hand), leads to needing breaks during the rehearsal. Hope I can swing on through tomorrow night. Wish me luck.
MAB
