Hi Heather, nice to 'meet you' and welcome back! Sure sounds like you've had an interesting few years - great experiences for a songwriter, I would imagine! 
We visited my son last weekend in Virginia and now I feel like all is right with the world again. He's doing so well and we couldn't be happier. I've been writing alot lately, but still haven't gotten out of the living room in a while. ;(
I'll have to read up on how to upload songs here and where they go..haven't gotten around to that yet.
