Skipp Gooley
I've had this complete song in my head for about 4 years now. It's actually held me up from writing for about that same length of time. I have issues with leaving something unfinished and moving on. I can play it and sing it, but for some reason I can't get it recorded so that it is listenable. I think if the right person recorded it, it would be good. Anyway, with all that being said, here are the lyrics to the unrecorded song. Thanks in advance for reading.

BEFORE I LEAVE THIS WORLD

VERSE 1

Before I leave this world
I wanna do some good
I wanna make my mark in time
I know that who we are
Isn't what we own
But the love we leave behind

CHORUS

I wanna trade my idle time for something that will last
And not just ride the sidelines and watch the time go past
I wanna be a man who's responsible
Before I leave this world

VERSE 2

I see a lot of wrongs
That I could help make right
If I would only take the time
And so today's the day
That I start to change
I'm gonna leave my past behind

CHORUS

I wanna trade my idle time for something that will last
And not just ride the sidelines and watch the time go past
I wanna be a man who's responsible
Before I leave this world

BRIDGE

I know we all leave something behind
Better make it good, better make it last
Cuz just like sand falls through the hourglass
Our time on Earth shall surely pass

1/2 CHORUS

I wanna be a man who's responsible
Before I leave this world

VERSE 3

I wanna calm the fears of a troubled world
Or maybe simply plant a seed
And so it starts with me and continues on
Even when I've passed into eternity

1/2 CHORUS (twice)

I wanna be a man who's responsible
Before I leave this world
Yea I wanna be a man who's responsible
Before I leave this world.

Skipp

Thoughtful piece of writing you have there. What can you to leave behind?  Words Scott. Words which matter, that make people pause , think, consider. You know words like 'before I leave this world'  Lots of them Scott, lots of them.Plant those seeds.
