"Hold On"
V1
It was 1969, monsoon was rolling in, a soldier laid across his bunk, at his wits end.
He'd got a "Dear John" letter, about two weeks before, wondered if God still listened, or cared anymore.
He closed his eyes, held his hand up high, said Lords this all there is, imagine his embarrassment, when another hand grabbed his.
V2
After all it was Vietnam, his buddies were just kids, he wondered why they'd pull a prank, at a time like this.
Held that hand for a moment, all he could do was hope, he didn't open up his eyes to find, he was the butt of someone's joke.
Muster'd up the courage, to look and see who was there, could still feel a hand gripping his, but all he saw was air.
CH 1x
SPOKEN: (Then a voice said...)
Hold on, to this hand. What good is there in worry? I'm the beginning and the end.
There are plans, just for you I've made, in my name you'll find your comfort, and I don't make mistakes. I'll never leave your side, everything will turn out right, and should you ever think that you're alone... (Pause) Remember that this hand is real, just how this moment feels, and hold on.
V3
Well it's been forty six years since, that night that changed his life. Two daughters, and three grand kids later, an angel of a wife.
Life has thrown its share of curves, the road wasn't always smooth, found faith ten thousand miles away, no mountain he can't move.
He never promised we'd never hurt, see death or feel pain, but there's a promise of unending love, and power in HIS name.
