So, last week down in Louisiana, my pal Roger Dorethy and I began throwing some ideas back and forth. This song is the result...
Eddie Minyard - Guitar / Harp / Vocals
You’re an Addiction
© 2011 Eddie Minyard / Roger Dorethy
I tried every bar on Bourbon Street
To get you out of my mind
I tried those Nashville nights, Those Vegas lights
And anyplace else I could find
I’ve been to every party town in America, baby
Flew to Amsterdam, too
But no matter what I try, no matter how high
I can’t get over you
You’re an addiction, baby
A heart-wrenching affliction, baby
You took that thrill away
Now I’m searching for it every day
I need an interdiction, baby
A love with some conviction, baby
A love that’s deep and true
Like I thought I had with you
<BREAK>
So I’ll keep spinnin’ around, from town to town
Spendin’ my money like a fool
But it’s a worthless chase, tryin to replace
That feelin that I got from you
It’s like I’m runnin on a treadmill, baby
Getting nowhere fast
Guess what they say is true, there ain’t no future
Livin in the past
You’re an addiction, baby
A heart-wrenching affliction, baby
You took that thrill away
Now I’m searching for it every day
I need an interdiction, baby
A love with some conviction, baby
A love that’s deep and true
Like I thought I had with you
I need an interdiction, baby
A love with some conviction, baby
A love that’s deep and true
Like I thought I had with you
A love that’s deep and true
Like I thought I had with you

Cool song Eddie! A good write, some nice picking and a soulful vocal. Harp adds a lot. Nice work guys! |

One fine write here! Lots of heart. Great job on working addiction, conviction, affliction, and interdiction into the storyline. The melody works the emotion of the lyics well. The harmonica in the background gives the feel of sorrow after the fact. Sorry for not being able to stop loving that which you know is not good for you. Real nice touch. Well done! All the best, Robin |

Nice write and sang with conviction. The harp is perfect in the mix fading in and out. Nice track. |

Excellent song! Nice flow to the lyrics and sung well. For some reason I was expecting a breakout into a full band sound (guitar, bass, and drums) - but the soft picking on the guitar and the harp turns out perfect! A haunting sound. -Marc |

Real cool, Eddie. I can hear Dr. Hook back in the day doing this. |

Strong lyrically and I really like the way you mixed the harp in the back, like the aftertaste of the mood of the song. Good solid vocal work. Nice clean guitar work as well. Good listen. Michael |

Wow Eddie!! This is a sad lyric. The harps and guitar playing support your lyric. I hate the fact that love can end up being one sided. Trying to get over someone you love deeply is a sad thought. Enjoyed this collaboration. PamelaElaine |

One of your greatest lyrics Eddie. And some of your best performances too. I love the harpsound and the way you play it folkish style. Good work brother. Ken |
