Most people have wondered what it would sound like if an octopus had a one-man band. Well, now you can find out!
Bobby Maestas is on Songramp under bobbysgarage--lots of fun stuff to be heard there.

Words by Jeff Mondak
Music and arrangement by Bobby Maestas
Performed by Bobby Maestas, Oliver Oscar Octopus, nine lobsters, four dolphins, one hermit crab, and a whole heckuva lot of fish

Oliver Oscar Octopus
Is stirring the sea and the sand
Ollie plays all of the instruments
In Oliver's One-Man Band

Oliver's tooting a tuba
And crashing away on his drum
Oliver's plucking a banjo
As all of his lobster friends hum

Oliver Oscar Octopus
Is stirring the sea and the sand
Ollie plays all of the instruments
In Oliver's One-Man Band

Oliver bashes the cymbals
While sawing the violin strings
It sounds like a heavenly choir
When Ollie the Octopus sings

Oliver Oscar Octopus
Is stirring the sea and the sand
Ollie plays all of the instruments
In Oliver's One-Man Band

This song's his famous finale,
A tune called "The Tuna Got Canned"
Now there's a rousing ovation
As Ollie's eight arms get a hand!

Oliver Oscar Octopus
Is stirring the sea and the sand
Ollie plays all of the instruments
In Oliver's One-Man Band

Listening to this tune, I can't help thinking of one of Ringo Starr's underwater tunes ("Yellow Submarine" or "Octopus' Garden"). Really digging all the synth voices used in here...particularly the synth-enhanced bg vocals. Great lyrics as always, Jeff -- really great performance & mix, Bobby!! Cool collab!!! -dt-

First off the singer reminds me of Ray Davies (The Kinks). Excellent singing, instrumentation, melody and lyrics. Very good song, clever pedagogical technique by identifying the instruments and then featuring them solo!

This is really good - Jeff, the lyrics are clever; Bobby's ideas of adding the background sounds really added to the song. Bobby's voice sounds great too. Great job. Rich (BoReevas).

what a great production job - kids can sing along and learn about music too. I can just imagine my neice and nephew dancing along (there've got to be dance moves for all of those instruments, right?!?) Fun, fun song! Joanna

Great work on this one Jeff! Oliver Oscar Octapus is a very catchy name for a children's character. I'm not sure if you have the desire or the energy, but if I were you I would consider exploring the idea of creating a live puppet show for kids out of Oliver. I even think it's cool that Oliver's initials are "Oh Oh Oh"...but that's just me.
