This song's got such a nice groove; for the first minute or so, the guitar bits and the vocal phrasing were reminding me of Bowie's "Heroes" (why?!? I dunno why, honestly...) The lyrics are good for anybody, clean powerful vocal delivery, and great guitar hooks. (I won't harp on the drum machine any more, Jeff! ;-)). Around the end of May, Pennie86 (Trudi Cross) asked me to take a look at a draft lyric of hers called “Don’t Look Back” and see what I thought of making a rock song with her… I stopped by for a look and liked what I found but couldn’t spend any time right then (unfortunately)…..
However, in July I took the lyric and my guitar on vacation with my family and I and started working on a melody that I thought might rock a little bit!! I also asked Trudi if I could add some of my own thoughts and feelings about “moving on” in life…She graciously agreed and after some true collaboration work, this song began to emerge….
Having done some things with Shannon, it was easy to imagine the power and passion that she would bring to the vocal and she nailed the ‘vibe’ of the song right away ….
As always, I owe a HUGE “Thank You” to my friends Trudi and Shannon who had the patience and willingness to work with me!! This song took a little longer than expected, but I for one, feel that the message is strong and worth the wait…Hope you do too….
