which do you prefer?

EVENTUALLY is the song I cowrote when I was thinking about the misery I felt when my first real girl friend dumped me. We were sitting on a sofa at the end of a date in Kinsolving dorm weeks before finals. I thought our relationship was fine, and then wham, she said

Ande, I think we should go out with other people.

That one moment was followed by months of misery. Years later I was thinking about what I went through and I imagined what I would tell myself, if I could go back in time and say one thing to encourage myself while I was reeling in the wake of that breaking up. It was a simple message.

Eventually you?ll get better,
Eventually you?ll heal,
Eventually you?ll love again.
Eventually you'll find your life partner,
Eventually you'll feel a deeper love and a greater happiness.
I can?t put a definite date on it, but there will come days when you won't think about her as much.

Eventually's chorus arrived in November 1999 when I was thinking about that situation. Soon after I presented it to Mark Oates, he loved it. Donna and I wrote one set of verses to it then Mark and Donna totally rewrote the verses and bridge to what it is today.

I?m so glad they did. Eventually is a song that touches people. Mark did such a gorgeous job on the music and melody. He really captures the emotions I felt in those moments. It?s one of the favorite songs I've ever written.

Eventually
Written by Mark Oates, Donna Aylor, and Ande Rasmussen

verse 1
I lie in bed and wonder how you are
Little things remind me how we are now apart
No more talking on the phone
Or late nights with you alone
And tho I dont know why you said goodbye

CHORUS:
EVENTUALLY
I'LL FORGET ABOUT YOU
EVENTUALLY
I'LL LOVE SOMEONE NEW
THO ALL I DO IS THINK ABOUT
THE WAY WE USED TO BE
I'LL GET ON WITH LIFE
EVENTUALLY

verse2
I'm waiting for your memory to fade
I'm still holding onto the promises you made
You said you felt for me
A love that would always be
And I wish I could feel that love tonight

REPEAT CHORUS

BRIDGE
Somewhere between these walls of time
Someone will love this heart of mine
Tho it hurts to know it wont be you

REPEAT CHORUS

Great job. Dave always does a first rate job on vocals, but it certainly helps when there's a quality song like this to work with. Nicely done. - Randy

Wow!! I love Dave, so here I am, loving the same song, but perhaps even more... I can't decide!! Just goes to show this song is a hit regardless of the genre. This may be the best I've ever heard Dave sing. The vocal is powerful. It sells the song.

So Dave, you're the voice behind Ande's beautiful song "We ran out of time"! Glad to find and meet you, to congratulate you! That track is truly one of the most beautiful songs I've heard and your vocals certainly do it justice, they're superb. As for this song. It's another great collaboration, sung with feeling. You could cover one of mine any time Mate!! Carol.

This is a friggin' hit song if there ever was one! Dave did a great job, one of his best too. Yeah, I use Denny Martin too. He has elite demos, more like CD quality. The melody SERIOUSLY pulls the lyrics into an emotional pinnacle, a perfect marriage of lyrics and melody - to perfection! Bookmarking this one! Richard Tausch

Ande, I first heard this song about three years ago on Broadjam. I said it then and I'll say it again. THIS SONG WILL BE CUT BY A MAJOR ARTIST...NOT A SINGLE DOUBT IN MY MIND. It feels more like a pop song to me, although I love this version also. I know you asked which do we like best (I'd have to say the pop version)...but they're both great. Of course, I love Dave's voice (I use him on no less than 8 of my demos that were done at the Gator Hole with Galen Breen. I noticed that it was published by Sony and Dale Kawashima. I recall his name from the Songwriters Universe(my song "your best friend" won second place in the June contest...it's on the ramp if you get a chance to listen. Ande, this is one of the best songs I have ever heard and I'm not just saying that. The chorus is KILLER. Germain
